Potions

Potions are listed in ascending order of cost, and alphabetically when costs are the same.

BlindnessInduces blindness for a considerable time, unless your character has resistance to blindness0
ClumsinessReduces dexterity, unless your character has sustain dexterity0
ConfusionInduces confusion for a short time, unless your character has resistance to confusion; also provides a small amount of nourishment0
DeathInflicts a huge amount of damage; death can only be avoided if your character has magical invulnerability, which just happens to be unavailable in the current version of Angband0
Lose MemoriesDrains a large amount of your character's experience total, unless your character has resistance to life draining0
NaivetyReduces wisdom, unless your character has sustain wisdom0
PoisonPoisons your character unless your character has resistance to poison0
RuinationInflicts a considerable amount of damage and permanently decreases all stats, even if your character has stat sustains0
Salt Watervomiting, which will result in severe hunger and causes a short bout of paralysis, even if your character has free action; but also neutralises poison0
SicklinessReduces constitution, unless your character has sustain constitution0
SleepCauses paralysis for a short time, unless your character has free action; also provides a small amount of nourishment0
SlownessSlows your character down (-10 to speed) for a considerable time; this duration is cumulative with other temporary slowing enchantments; also provides a small amount of nourishment0
StupidityReduces intelligence, unless your character has sustain intelligence0
UglinessReduces charisma, unless your character has sustain charisma0

  • Potions can be thrown to deal 1 point of damage
  • Potions can be destroyed by cold
  • Potions that have a temporary effect will have a cumulative duration with other similar temporary effects
